Updates on Face Coverings Policy

Minnesota Management and Budget updated its policy requirements for face coverings to align with new requirements from Minnesota OSHA. The updated Face Coverings Policy for Agency Staff goes into effect on January 10, 2022.

Under the updated policy, acceptable face coverings are medical procedure masks, respirators, or coverings that are made of two (2) or more layers of tightly woven fabric that fit snugly over and completely cover the nose and mouth without large gaps or openings. Although not required by the policy, the CDC recommends wearing surgical, N95, or KN95 masks to protect against the Omicron COVID-19 variant.

It is important to note that under the updated policy, face coverings may be removed when alone in a room with floor to ceiling walls and a closed door. However, face coverings can no longer be removed in cubicles except for a limited time while eating or drinking.

Please review the updated policy. In addition, you can find COVID-19 information and FAQs for state agency employees on BeReadyMN.
